Sunday in Steamboat
The sun came out and it was a lovely day. Karen and I shopped at F.M. Light's department store which has not changed much in 50 years and took a selfie. (We bought vests )
ski jump
At the top of the 90 foot jump and just before I started down. They forgot to take any pictures while I was going down. It was a beautiful ride. Kenda, Karen and Jim admiring my form as I go down the slope.

Exhausted
Another great day on our odessy across this country. After spending some time walking the streets of steamboat springs this morning and Kenda and not buying anything it has to be a great day.
Kenda and I met with Karen and decided not to go to the painting class instead had some coffee and watched some skiers go down the ski jump. Then to Karen's for lunch. After lunch we toured the town's incredible library, we met up with Jim and Madeleine and took a wonderful hike around the country side with a brief stop atop the 90 foot high ski jump. After the walk Jim, Madeleine, Kenda and I took a trip to the hot springs and soak it in for an hour or so. Then to dinner with Karen and now to bed.
Tomorrow has more adventures waiting for us.
Bright moon, crisp clear air and my cousins
Yesterday was another wonderful drive with such dramatically different landscapes. The wide open spaces of Wyoming and imagining wagons rolling across them at perhaps 20 miles a day and we are driving 80 miles an hour! Legally.
We passed a truck loaded with bee hives and had to slow down to get a picture, of course.
Alicia told us of the Sierra Trading Post store outside of Cheyenne and I dragged Tom inside! As you can see we purchased a few items. Can you hear Tom saying "you can go broke saving money".
On to Colorado and over Rabbit Ears pass. I felt the excitement we felt as kids and how our mom was so happy. Pictures of the Rabbit Ears. And the motel, Rabbit Ears. This sign has been here since 1952. A landmark. We are staying in a lovely room by the river and there is a picture of our view.
Jim, Madeleine and Karen showed us some great art galleries. One painter uses egg tempera and is giving a demonstration this morning we are going to listen and observe. May become painters!

a Are we there yet?
Back on the road again. We did unload two snow tires but picked up a bunch of 3M products so we still have a car that is loaded to the gills. We arrived in Pleasantville last Sunday with a cheerful and healthy Emerson and left today leaving behind a crying baby with a cold and a diaper rash. The Carr,s did not say hurry back.
We drove about 400 miles today and could have gone farther but when you come upon a town named Sidney you just have to stop and then think about our faithful companion we left behind.
Tomorrow we will be in steamboat springs visiting the Vails.
After reading Kenda's last post about me running out of gas maybe ten years ago I thought it only fair to tell a story on her. We were staying at the Carr Paasch lake house and I think we were the first guest. Kenda was in the bathroom drinking wine. I don't think she has a problem, anyway she spills some on the brand new wall and then spends the next 30 minutes trying to remove the stain but to no avail.
Chris and Cory handled it well and saying when they repaint they will leave that spot alone as a memory to Kenda.
Are we trending yet?

On the road again...
Leah and her sister returned from Antarctica last night. We were all happy to see the weary travelers and look at pictures, lots of pictures of penguins and ice. We feel we were there! E is glad to have her mom back and so is Cory.
We will be on Interstate 80 today across Nebraska. Just passed all the signs for Adele, Adair, Avoca and dear Atlantic. Tried to get a good picture of where Tom ran out of gas in the Prius. Yes, it can be done!
Beautiful day!

Kenda and I have been on the road for a week now and today we are doing the job that started this trip. We are babysitting Emerson by ourselves. After spending 5 days at the Carr/Paasch lake house building walls, eating turkey, eating tuna that Cory caught, eating prime rib that Cory and cousin Brett had a cook off contest with and meeting lots of cousins it was time to return to Pleasantville. Cory had to go to work and Leah is still on her trip to Antarctica.
The time at the lake house with the Carr/Paasch family and getting to know the kids was great. Working with Chris and Cory in the basement framing walls and Cory in his exuberance driving a nail through a water line to shut the job site down was good fun also.
Yesterday we returned to Pleasantville to watch some football. Today we will be playing with Emerson and doing laundry in preparation for the next leg of our trip to Colorado.
These are pictures as we are leaving the lake house.
